Above the Trend
We continue to be encouraged by the upward trend in student growth and achievement data we are seeing in our schools. We know that this growth is a direct reflection of the hard work of our educators and PLC teams to meet the varied needs of our diverse student population.
These graphs show how our East Valley schools compare to our neighboring K-12 school districts. District A is the most affluent district in our local area (West Valley), with only 40% of students qualifying for free and reduced priced lunch (FRPL). District B (Wapato) is the least affluent in our local area, with 97.2% FRPL.
The trendlines demonstrate the correlation between success on the State Smarter Balanced Assessments and the number of students from qualifying low income homes. As the number of qualifying students increases, success on state tests decreases.
In the 2018-2019 school year, 52.9% of East Valley School District students passed the Smarter Balanced Assessment in math and 60.3% passed in ELA (reading & writing). Both of these are far above the trendlines for schools in our local area.
