2015 School of Distinction Award
We are excited to inform you that Moxee Elementary School is being honored as a recipient of the Washington State 2015 School of Distinction Award. The School of Distinction Award goes to the top 5 percent of Washington schools that have attained the most outstanding levels of reading and math improvement among their students over the past five years. Moxee Elementary School is receiving the School of Distinction award for the third consecutive year. Students and staff at Moxee Elementary School will be formally honored by Educational Service District 105 with a plaque and banner during a special assembly that will be scheduled during the next several weeks.

Passage of this bond will support renovating and expanding East Valley High School due to the aging 35-year-old facility and overcrowding caused by continued student enrollment growth.
The bond will provide funding to construct additional classrooms and a physical education facility at East Valley Central Middle School.

The bond funding will also expand parking at Moxee Elementary School to accommodate increased traffic flow and provide additional space for parent and staff parking.

For additional information, please click here for the EVSD Bond Brochure or contact Superintendent, John Schieche at (509) 573-7320.

East Valley is taking a firm stand starting with the 2015-16 school year by requiring the necessary immunizations for all students attending school this fall. Please note that if you fail to provide the district proof of the required immunizations in accordance with state law, your child will be excluded from starting and/or attending school.

Washington State law RCW 28A.210.080 requires all children to have the proper immunization records for certain vaccine preventable diseases in order to attend school. Skipping vaccinations or missing vaccine doses makes it more likely that your child can get sick or give an illness to another child.

Prior to registering for the 2015-16 school year, you must bring proof of immunization to your child's school office. Please bring:

1. A current immunization record from your physician with the Certificate of Immunization showing that your child has received any current and/or missing vaccine(s); OR

2. A Certificate of Exemption signed by your physician showing that you have a medical, religious, or personal reason for not vaccinating your child. Please note that RCW 28A.210.090 now requires the certificate of exemption to be signed by your healthcare provider.

If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the district office at 573-7300.

News Release

East Valley School District
Board of Directors Pass Bond Resolution

On Monday, June 22, the East Valley School District Board of Directors unanimously passed a resolution to place a $52.9 million bond on the November 3, 2015 ballot.  This bond will fund district improvement projects at three of our schools.  The bond will support renovating and expanding East Valley High School due to the aging 35-year-old facility and overcrowding caused by continued student enrollment growth.  East Valley High School was originally built to accommodate 450 students and now serves over 850 students.

The bond will also include funding to construct additional classrooms and a physical education facility at East Valley Central Middle School to support the continuing enrollment growth at that building. Also, security systems would be installed at both East Valley Central and East Valley High schools to protect our students from acts of violence. In addition, parking at Moxee Elementary School would be increased to accommodate increased traffic flow and provide additional space for parent and staff parking.

The District Facility/Bond Committee that includes parents, community members and various educators have been meeting since October 2014 to study the facility needs of the district and to prepare a recommendation to the EVSD Board of Directors.  Committee members presented the $52.9 million bond recommendation on Monday evening. The proposal included a recommendation to pay the bond off in a 15-year time period.

With two current bonds being paid off in December 2015, the projected cost to tax payers will decrease from the current rate by 56 cents per $1,000 of assessed property value. The East Valley School District will be conducting community forums over the next few months to provide additional information related to the facility needs and bond.
