East Valley Central News

  • July 29, 2014

    Dear Parent or Guardian:

The East Valley Central Middle School (EVC) Staff is very excited to welcome you back to school for the 2014-15 year. We hope you will take full advantage of all the wonderful opportunities that EVC has to offer academically and in both co- and extra-curricular activities. In anticipation for the year to come, we have developed an orientation schedule to provide an opportunity for you and your family to come see EVC and receive some of the basics for the 2014-15 school year.  The back to school orientation has been scheduled and the dates are listed below based on your student’s grade level. The orientation format will be new due to financial restrictions, but we are really excited to have you on campus. The orientation dates are split between the following two days:

    • August 19 – 6th Grade (doors open from 3-6pm)
    • August 20 – 7th & 8th Grade (doors open from 3-6pm)
    • August 20 – 7th & 8th Grade fall athletic parent meeting @ 6:00 pm in the EVC gym

The time is provided to offer the following opportunities:

    1. Pick up class schedule
    2. Receive your locker number and combination
    3. Take and receive your photo I.D. badge (required to be worn during the school year)
    4. See the campus, location of classes and tour the buildings
    5. Athletic paperwork for 7th and 8th grade participants will take place online in Room 404 (you will need emergency contact and insurance information with you at the time of registration)

The 2014-15 school year will bring many exciting opportunities and changes. The class schedule will still consist of seven class periods. You may notice when you pick up your student’s schedule a two period block is dedicated to mathematics. This has been done to allocate more time to an area of focus for EVC and its students. Additionally, during the first week of school your student will receive a student hand book. Prior to my arrival, the student handbook was sent out to be published and some fundamental changes in the way which EVC will be operated have been made. These will be communicated through an addendum provided during the first days of school. The purpose of the addendum is to communicate the change in academics, discipline and attendance. If you have any questions concerning these changes please contact me directly at (509) 573-7520.  We would like to invite you to our Open House on Wednesday, September 17 (more information will be provided at a later time). At that time you will learn about the programs that are being offered and meet the staff.

I look forward to getting to know your child and providing the best possible experience while at East Valley Central Middle School.

    Matthew Toth
