    Dear Parents and Guardians,

Thank you for another successful school year.  Each year it is amazing to see the growth of our students, socially, behaviorally and academically.  We are proud of our various accomplishments this year.  The leadership group, under the guidance of Lisa Bartheld, collected hundreds of pounds of food for our local food pantry.  This year they began a recycling program, making weekly collections of paper and cardboard from the office and classrooms.  Putting our character trait of “Empathy” into action, our students collected over $1,200 for ‘Kids with Cancer’ in just over one week’s time.  As a building, we collected over 190,000 pull-tabs to be donated to Ronald McDonald House in Spokane.  We were also recognized as being in the top 10% of the elementary schools in the state for our 5-year improvement trend.

I would like to give a special recognition to our two retiring teachers. Linda Alexander and Linda Nelson.  They have a combined total of over sixty years of making a special connection with many young lives.   They did a tremendous job and never came to ‘work’.  They came to school each day ready to have the students change their lives.  Thank you and we will miss you dearly.  Enjoy your retirement.  It’s well deserved!

Good luck to our fifth-graders, the class of 2023.   As we explained during our End-of-the-Year Assembly, once you are an East Valley Jaguar, you will always remain in our hearts as an E. V. Jaguar.  We expect students to continue to showcase the HERO characteristics as they have while attending East Valley Elementary.

A big “thank you” to our many volunteers.  We would not be as successful without our Grandma Volunteers, partnership with East Valley Foursquare Church, East Valley Reform Church Pantry and Parent Teacher Organization.  If you have not had a chance, and are interested, please stop by the office for a volunteer form.  We would love to have you!

During the long summer days when you find yourself traveling, waiting for the next baseball game or sitting on a blanket under a tree, make the time to read.  Avoid the “summer slump” by reading daily for thirty minutes.  Your child will be ready for another successful year when September begins.  We look forward to seeing you in August.  Our office will be open August 15th and our Open House/Barbeque will be August 24th.  See you then!
